Rising Expectations Cost Happiness

In the past few weeks I've written three posts about three psychological processes that rob us of our happiness in family life. The first of these was habituation, the second was the unpleasantness of reality, and the third was unfavourable social comparison. The fourth psychological process that displaces our positive emotions is rising expectations.
