How to Have World Peace at Home
Magazines, books, blogs, and popular media make families look like bliss much of the time. Reality gives us a different view. Family and home life can be immensely challenging, demanding, and plain exasperating. This workshop provides the keys to happy families, and world peace at home.
Presentation Highlights
- What your child needs from you
- How to create a "connected" family
- Seeing the world through your child's eyes
- Discipline as a way of teaching, versus discipline as a euphimism for punishment
- Why being a parent is more difficult - and more worthwhile - than being a rocket scientist
Setting Limits
"How do I get the children to do as they’re told?" Before we had children we were so sure our kids were never going to do “that”. We had all the answers too, discipline would never be a problem and we knew when we became parents we would never lose our temper, hit/punish, use time out, or bribe. But best laid plans often come unstuck, especially when stress, work, commitments, other children, and our own needs all hit us at once.
This workshop is designed to help parents discover that “behaviour management” is only a short term solution to parenting challenges, and that real change in children’s behaviour comes from guiding children through working with them rather than doing things to them.
In this workshop we ask deep questions about what we really want for, and from, our children. Is it compliance and obedience? Or do we want them to make decisions about their behaviour with less involvement from us.
